Default The Best Healer for Tombs is a Necro/Monk

Ever heard that expression; "think outside the box"? Well here's an example of that, swap out the one monk on a Tombs team(or any other pve endeavour that has alot of dying going on for that matter)for a necro/monk. I can already hear the scoffs, criticism and ridicule from the unbelievers, but let me explain why this is a better way.

On a B/P team build you have one monk using a basic healing prayers build, and sometimes if you're lucky, an orders necro is helping with the heals by spamming Heal Party in between spamming his orders. Even then, an orders necro isn't going to have his healing prayers maxed out to 12 so his Heal Party will be on the weak side. The problem for the monk is energy management, especially if he has a bad skillbar equipped as is so often the case. Even if he has a good skillbar, he is usually dependent on the orders necro to juice him up with bloodritual when the going gets tough.

The new elite skill "Healer's Boon" eliminates this problem when it is used by a healing necro. For those who don't know the skill, Healer's Boon boosts the healing power of healing prayers spells by 50% and makes them cast 50% faster. It doesn't matter that HB is a divine favor attribute skill, it will still boost the next 10 healing prayers spells with zero points on divine favor. When this is combined with the soul-reaping primary attribute of a necro you get fast, powerful heals with all the energy in the world to cast them with. Why not just use HB on a monk then? Nice thought but HB takes away one energy regen arrow making energy management even worse for the monk.

Here's the skillbar I've been using (12 on healing, 12+1+1 on soul-reaping)
-Dwayna's Kiss - bonus heals when cast on hexed/enchanted other ally
-Heal Other and Jamei's Gaze - use when powerful heal is needed
-Heal Party - heals for 100 points when HB is activated, superior to monk's 84
-choose what u prefer here for self-heals such as heal area, orison, etc.
-Healer's Boon - remember to recast this, it doesn't last forever lol
-optional slot, could be blood ritual for your MM or anything else
-Rebirth

Last night I convinced a PUG in tombs to let me monk for them with this build, nobody died during the entire run since i had the energy to constantly spam HP for heals worth 100 points. Another nice side benefit of this build is not losing health points to major or superior runes, my health was 560 even though i didnt have a nice monk weapon set on my necro. Give it a try, hope you enjoy easier monking!

I tried N/Mo with Healer's Boon also. With Sig of lost souls, you really never run out of energy in pve. The Heal Party spam is also really helpful.

it all depends on the quality of the players. as a monk in tombs, sometimes i feel like im not even needed in the group. and i find it as an insult when the orders keeps dumping blood rituals on me. if you know what your doing, u wont need the blood rituals. and id rather have the orders keeping up with the OoV and HP spam, rather then give me a +3 pips that i dont need.

but you are right. the power of the necro healer is high in certain areas of pve, especially tombs. and cool use of healers boon. soul reaping keeps a good flow of energy, and allows you to use higher power, higher cost skills, like heal party. the same goes for a e/mo. high energy level along with skills like ether prodigy, GoLE, ect make for a powerful healer as well.

for tombs, i personally dont care what type of healer the team has. ive run it with monks, rits, e/mo, and necros. all work fine down in tombs. in other places (say where the corpse flow is slower) id rather have the good old reliable monk.

There is no reason for primary monks in pve (except for farming of course!) for this very reason. N/Mo with Heal Other/Jamei's Gaze can output far greater healing than a monk over time, due to stuff constantly dying.

I've been using SR to heal since the game came out, but I moved on to other things after a while. The heals weren't powerful enough, you simply get overwhelmed at times. This basically relegates you to a "second monk" support role.
Healer's Boon definitely changes that. Props for coming up with something original!

Tested concept with:

12+1+1 SR
12 Healing

Healer's Boon {E}
Heal Other
Ethereal Light
Res Chant
Heal Party
Heal Area
Signet of Lost Souls
Infuse Health

Worked like a charm. I might throw out Heal Other or Infuse for Dwayna's Kiss, not sure. IMO this is as good as it can get for Healing Prayers.

I just now tried that build and it worked great. Im glad that now my necro can monk, I miss monking sometimes! Now i dont have to bring out my old Divine Boon monk. Necros are really versatile.

Im still experimenting with it...have a couple questions..

1. Why not add a sup healing rune as long as you have a sup vigor?

2. What about leaving a few points in blood for Wells Of Blood?

1. lol, cause necros can't use monk runes? =p

2. Well of blood isn't very effective without a high rank in blood.

I've never joined a PUG Tombs group before.

I guess it's a little different when you hit Tombs with your guildies instead of PUGs?

We just use 6 B/Ps, MM and Orders. The Orders is more than enough to keep us alive.

Because Shatter Enchantment would cripple them completely?

I've been wondering how good Healer's Boon would be on a secondary monk... 10 spells for 5 energy is a fair bit really, specially as it doesn't actually effect the Divine Favour healing.

Would be very effective if the N/Mo Order necro used Heal Party too. But i'd advise prot spirit in there somewhere (if you can convince the entire party to use a non-monk hard res, lets be honest, screw rebirth, if you get in a situation where you'd have to rebirth people, you've probably just died). As good as a necro healer is... prot spirit is always the best counter to Terrorweb/Grasp spikes.

It would be feasible to run with 10+1+3 SR, 12 Healing Prayers, and leftover in Protection for a decent PS, right? Sure you'd give up some HP, but at least the overall functionality of the build wouldn't be compromised.

I had the same feelings when I play Healer's Boon... I miss my PS!

Well i got to say, this is a good build etc, However i got a monk and a necro. And when i do tombs with my monk. i never run out of energy.

First reason is that i only use 5 energy spells. Second is that healing is preaty boring so yea not much you can do. So i like your build and all but just take a n/mo who heals and is an order.
